One former LeBron James teammate recently joined the group of NBA players who have been openly supportive towards cryptocurrency, in light of the recent market crash where an estimated value of $19 billion were lost.
In a recent post on X, Tristan Thompson, who once played with LeBron James during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, urged his fans and followers to “buy more.” While he did not specifically say what, fans were quick to connect that he was referring to cryptocurrency.

“Buy buy buy and when you think you bought too much, buy some more,” he said in his post.

Thompson is not the only NBA player that has dipped their toes in cryptocurrency. Veteran star Kevin Durant was unable to access a Coinbase account containing a large Bitcoin holding after forgetting the password, a lapse that left the NBA star cut off from an asset that later appreciated dramatically.
Former Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen had also been very vocal, at least in the past few years, about his belief on the potential of Bitcoin as a virtual asset. More recently, following the $19 billion crypto crash, Pippen made a strong statement on social media urging people to hold on to their Bitcoin.
NBA Executive Predicts LeBron James Missing One Month of Games
An NBA executive told Lakers Daily that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, sidelined with right‑side sciatica since late July, may not return to action until December as the team plans a cautious approach to his recovery.

The executive stressed that sciatica is intensely painful and noted that at 40 years old James’s body is no longer healing as quickly as it once did, increasing the likelihood he will miss October and November games.
“Sciatica is really, really painful,” the NBA executive said. “And LeBron’s body isn’t healing quickly anymore like it used to. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t play in October or November. The Lakers have to be careful with this injury, and I think they will be very, very cautious.”
The Lakers open the 2025‑26 season Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors and face a congested early schedule, which the source said makes careful management of James’s minutes a priority for the franchise.

Analysts and fans have often noted that LeBron James is in the final year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason, a development that adds context to the team’s handling of his health and the broader roster picture as the Lakers balance short‑term competitiveness with long‑term planning.
