Lebron James has been in the basketball industry more than half his life and once he retires, the Los Angeles Lakers star it will be a great loss for the sport.

King James’ retirement is one of the most anticipated even in the NBA because of the gravity that he has and being the face of the league for almost two decades. At 40 years old, he is still going strong and arguably still in the Top 10 players in the 2025-26 season.
He is still playing and already, he is in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame through the 2008 Team USA Redeem Team. There’s nothing he needs to prove and he is probably playing for the fun of it.
That does not mean he is not thinking about retiring. The NBA superstar has made investment in different industries like entertainment, electronics, real estate, and food services.
Being a basketball star with high basketball IQ, it should not be surprising that he will become one coach someday. Wrong. It is not in his agenda.
“No, no coaching for me,” James said when asked about the probability of coaching.
“I was inspired by the game. I love the game. But I don’t have coaching in my future.”

Carmelo Anthony wants Lebron James to retire already
James has been receiving invitation to finally hang his jersey from his close friends who are no longer in the league. One of which is Carmelo Anthony who joked that he should join them on the other side.
“We talk about being around, being together, being tied, being connected, being talked about since we were 17, 18 years old. And for me to be entering the Hall of Fame, and for him, hopefully get his [expletive] up out of there and come on over [to] this side. [laughs] Enough is enough. Give it a break.”

Both Anthony and James were present in the Naismith HoF ceremony on Saturday as honorees for being members of the 2008 Redeem Team.
James and Chris Paul are the only ones left still playing in the NBA from that squad.
LBJ still has a lot left in the tank and only his inner circle knows what’s going on in his mind about the future seasons.
