LeBron James may be preparing for his days after being a professional basketball player for the NBA, as reported by analyst and critic Jason Whitlock.
In one of the recent episodes of his show “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock talked about the topic of LeBron James, potentially through his long-time business partner, Maverick Carter, preparing for his post-NBA career.

Whitlock talked about the news of Carter pulling out of the billion-dollar investment deal for a new basketball league that could rival the NBA.
“Last week, Carter confirmed to ESPN he had left the venture, which calls itself Project B, and its representative said in media interviews it is now focusing on starting a woman’s basketball league to rival the WNBA.,” Whitlock said. So, LeBron James, through Maverick Carte,r is setting up the post-LeBron James career. He’s getting in bed with people from Saudi Arabia to rival the National Basketball Association.”

As reported by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, multiple people from within the industry have confirmed that a rival league that was supposed to be launched in 2026 was in the works, with recruitment reportedly involving Carter.
“Multiple player agents, current and former league executives, and support staffers told ESPN they’d been recruited to join the league ahead of a possible 2026 launch,” wrote Windhorst. “At times, this recruitment involved superstar LeBron James’ longtime business partner, Maverick Carter, who worked as an adviser to the league for months.”

However, as the original reported plan gets scrapped, the new plan is said to be about a new women’s league that would rival the WNBA.
JJ Redick on Lakers Without LeBron James: “It’s Hard to Forget”
Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick got honest about what it feels like to open the season and play without their star veteran LeBron James.
“It’s hard to forget about LeBron,” Redick said. “The reality is when you’re focused on the group that you have, you gotta make that group work. So sometimes you can just be like, ‘Oh, oh my god, we’re going to get LeBron back. It’s awesome.’”

James will not participate in at least the first three to four weeks of the 2025 regular season as he continues to recover from a case of sciatica that has affected the right side of his body. After three to four weeks, he will be evaluated for potential return.
LeBron James is in his 23rd season with the league, with some fans expecting this to be his last season.
