Some NBA insiders believe that LeBron James is going to spend his final seasons in the league as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. These speculations stem from last weekend’s blockbuster deal from out of nowhere that saw the Mavericks and the LA Lakers swap stars Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis.
Per Sam Amick, Anthony Slater, and David Aldridge of the Athletic, the four-time NBA champion might reunite with his former teammate in Dallas in the summer. In their latest joint article, the trio of insiders believed that the Mavs are eyeing immediate contendership and would look to target James should he decide to decline his player option for the next season.
“Whether it’s Durant (now or later), or perhaps even the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James in the summer if he were to decline his player option for next season, the 52-year-old Harrison appears to be targeting big-time stars with whom he’s very familiar from his past life as a top Nike executive,” the trio wrote.
Recent reports suggest that James will stay with the Lakers this season to play with their newly recruited young star in Doncic. However, there is still a day left before the trade deadline, and there might be an even more outrageous trade move just like the Luka-Davis swap that is bound to happen, so James moving to a different team is not impossible.

Kyrie Irving reportedly tried to convince LeBron James to join the Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have been known to have an interest in acquiring LeBron James, with Kyrie Irving also reportedly trying to convince his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate to join them earlier last season. ESPN insider Shams Charania, who used to be with The Athletic, then wrote a report about it.

“Kyrie Irving has reached out to Lakers star LeBron James in attempts to see if James would come to Dallas,” Charania wrote back then.
The idea back then was to form a “big three” in Dallas consisting of Irving, James, and Doncic, but it never materialized. But with the blockbuster trade moves made over the weekend, Irving now sees himself with a dominant center in Anthony Davis, while James sees himself paired with Doncic.

Meanwhile, Doncic has not played a game since Christmas last year and has missed six weeks of action due to a lingering calf strain. It might take a while before he can actually suit up in his new Lakers uniform and play alongside King James.
