“Great Song Choice”: Lexie Hull Gets Love From Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham And Tyrese Haliburton For Embracing Black Eyes

Lexie Hull has been tough before, but nothing like this. The Indiana Fever guard smacked heads with Seattle’s Gabby Williams on August 26, leaving her with a huge lump on her forehead that later turned into two black eyes.

Instead of sitting out, Hull suited up right after and kept playing. Two games later, the bruises are still there, but so is her energy. Fans loved it. So did her teammates. On Monday, she leaned into the moment, dropping photos on Instagram with “Get’cha Head in the Game” blasting in the background.

Her caption? “took the song a little too literally.”

The comments section blew up. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton replied “great song choice.” Caitlin Clark added, “Go Lex 🩷.” Sophie Cunningham went the joking route: “way to use your noggin’ Lex 🥹.”

“Suck it up and play through it”: Lexie Hull’s no nonsense mentality

Lexie Hull’s no stranger to pushing through pain. She told Sportskeeda’s Mark Media that injuries are just part of the grind.

“I broke my nose so I played in a mask for half a season [in 2023]. I think every player goes through nagging injuries that might not keep you out, but you think about it or you notice it. There are always those things throughout the course of the season. So you just have to suck it up and play through it.”

That “play through it” mindset matters now more than ever. Indiana’s missing Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Cunningham. Hull’s been one of the few constants on the floor, giving the Fever a much-needed spark during the playoff push.

The black eyes? They’ve almost become a badge of honor, showing fans exactly how much she’s willing to sacrifice. And with the Fever scraping for every win in the closing stretch, Hull’s grit might be just as valuable as any stat line.
