Steve Kerr walked into the postgame presser after getting blown out by the defending champion, Oklahoma City Thunder. He sounded absolutely broken after losing all his best players due to injury before the Thunder’s matchup. Jonathan Kuminga was added to the list as the latest player on Friday.

And then his clueless reply to the reporter’s question about Kuminga’s injury immediately caught fire on the internet.
However, after asking when Kuminga got hurt, Kerr replied, “Just before the game.” Another reporter followed up, asking, “Are the Warriors worried it will linger?” Kerr didn’t sugarcoat anything. He admitted, “I have no idea,” with raw honesty.

Kuminga was ruled out with lower back soreness just hours before Friday’s Thunder matchup. Earlier that day, Kerr had said Kuminga would play “for sure,” especially with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler already sidelined due to injury.
But then everything went otherwise, and he missed another game. For the unversed, Kuminga has played in only one of the Warriors’ last 11 games. In the process, many trade talks have emerged, but he won’t be eligible to trade until January 15.
Steve Kerr’s Blunt Admission Sparks Concern Over Kuminga’s Lingering Back Issue
Warriors Nation didn’t buy his clueless injury explanation. Folks immediately questioned whether Kerr is actually involved with the team or not.
“Fire Kerr, he is stupid,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “The disdain Kerr has for Kuminga is weird asf. Just trade him to a team that actually wants him.”
The third claimed, “Steve Kerr is ruining the team. Kuminga is a solid player who showed flashes in the playoffs. Why let him rot on the bench?” The fourth shared, “Liar liar your pants on fire Kerr!”
A fourth added, “Lingering? Kerr doesn’t even know if it exists yet.”
Another random X user penned, “Why Kerr lying lmao we all know bro not playing anymore. How tf soreness linger.”
Kerr compared Kuminga’s situation to Andrew Wiggins, who faced similar trade rumors before getting shipped to Miami last season. The parallel, however, wasn’t lost on fans watching this unfold in real time.
They lost 131-94 without their core players. But Kerr’s ice-cold responses about a 23-year-old forward became the headline whose future hangs in limbo.
