Los Angeles Clippers star guard Chris Paul is one of the oldest players in the NBA. He’s 40 years old, and there have been talks that he could retire after the 2025-26 season. After all, he signed a one-year deal to return to the Clippers. However, he showed last season with the San Antonio Spurs that he can still be a major contributor to any team.
During the 2024-25 campaign, the veteran star appeared in all 82 games for the season, which is only the second time in his career. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists on 42.7% from the field. Although he didn’t lead the Spurs to a playoff appearance, he showed that he can still make a significant impact in any team he’s a part of.
On Monday, he was officially introduced by the Los Angeles Clippers to the media. Additionally, he had time to speak with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, during which the subject of retirement was raised.

Paul didn’t give a hint about when he’ll step away from the game. However, he also didn’t rule out the possibility of returning for another season.
“I don’t know, I don’t know that,” Paul said. “I think throughout this season, at some point, guys that I know who’ve retired… you know. You sorta figure out yourself, it tells you. I think, more than anything, I will definitely enjoy it, I don’t take this for granted.

Paul also talked about how he longed to return to LA and reunite with his family. After his first stint with the Clippers, he played for Houston, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Golden State and San Antonio.
“I approach it, and I know I keep saying it, with so much gratitude and want to enjoy it.”
Paul longed to return to the Los Angeles Clippers

Since he was traded by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017, Paul has bounced around the league, searching for ways to stay competitive and hopefully win an NBA championship. However, that has been fruitless, which is why he’s back with the Clippers, to be reunited with his wife and kids.
CP3 expressed his desire to rejoin the squad where he achieved great success during his introductory news conference.
“I wanted to get back and play here by any means necessary,” the 12-time All-Star said. “I didn’t even care what the team looked like, I just wanted to be home, be here with the Clippers.”
“It’s going to be cool. It’s a lot of gratitude to still get a chance to play at this age.”
In his first stint with the Clippers, Paul was the face of the franchise. He formed one of the most entertaining teams with Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford.
