The Los Angeles Clippers have won their last two games to improve to 8-21 this season. They still have a long way to go to return to the West playoff picture, but Kawhi Leonard and James Harden believe they’re on their way.
Following their 128-108 rout of the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Clippers stars detailed the team’s mindset heading into their next road game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
“It’s very helpful. We all know how many games we lost early… It’s a long season. So any time we put on this jersey, you gotta compete and try to win a basketball game. That’s what I’m taking pride in. I think everybody else is too. Win, lose, or draw. We don’t have a give-up mentality. Even though the record looks like that,” Leonard stated via SI’s Joey Linn.
“I don’t know what it feels like to be in this position with this record. So I always feel like we’re better than the record shows. So we got an opportunity these home games coming up to take advantage of it and rack up some wins,” Harden added.

Los Angeles Clippers News: John Collins breaks down the team’s winning run
As mentioned, the Los Angeles Clippers are on a two-game winning streak, as they’ve been better on the defensive end, having held the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets to 88 and 108 points, respectively. It also helps that Kawhi Leonard has shouldered the heavy scoring load during that run.
“I feel like the biggest difference has been consistency and communication. And the want and need (to win),” John Collins said via Farbod Esnaashari of SI. “The key to any lineup working is playing the right way.”
“Just buying in to what we’re trying to do… Just staying the course, we hit a rough patch, it’s been a rough season. just stay the course,” head coach Ty Lue added.
