Kawhi Leonard insists that the Los Angeles Clippers are not where they want to be, despite improving to a 12-21 record – good for 11th in the Western Conference – following their 118-101 win over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
Leonard has been playing the best basketball of his career lately, which is the main catalyst behind the Los Angeles Clippers’ six-game winning streak. Against the Utah Jazz, the two-time NBA champion had 45 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, two blocks, and six three-pointers on 16-for-29 shooting in 39 minutes.
“We’re still trying to get better individually and as a unit. We might not be contenders, but we just gotta keep fighting… We still got steps. Good teams are top-8 or above. We’re not there. We’re below .500, so we’re working our way up,” Leonard told SI’s Joey Linn.
“It’s just aggression. I’ve been like that since I came in… You didn’t have to count on that from me. I was aggressive from day one,” he continued about his scoring mindset.

Los Angeles Clippers News: Kawhi Leonard hits insane scoring feat not done since 2007 Kobe Bryant
According to OptaSTATS, Kawhi Leonard became only the second player in NBA history to have a five-game span with at least 40 points per game on 50/40/90 shooting splits and an undefeated record since Kobe Bryant’s legendary run from March 16-25, 2007.
Leonard is also tied with Blake Griffin for the third-most 40-point outings in the Los Angeles Clippers franchise history. The Klaw is averaging 39.0 points over the last six games.
More importantly, the Los Angeles Clippers have won as many games in the last 12 days as they had in the previous 59 days, and they’re up against the Boston Celtics on Saturday.
