The past couple of seasons haven’t been kind to the Los Angeles Clippers. While they have an enthusiastic owner in Steve Ballmer who is ready to open up his bank account for the team’s success, the team hasn’t had much to show for his era.
The Kawhi Leonard-Paul George experiment failed as PG13 will try to chase that elusive ring with the Philadelphia 76ers. With no co-star and Kawhi Leonard still dealing with multiple injury problems and James Harden not as effective as he used to be, the Clippers are now desperate to build a team that can contend in a crowded Western Conference.
One of the approaches the Clippers have taken over the past couple of years is finding good players with questionable off-court behavior. They tried bringing over Joshua Primo from the San Antonio Spurs last week, but the move quickly blew up in their faces.
Kevin Porter Jr. is the latest player who got a second chance with the team, though it’s a widely unpopular signing among the fans. It remains to be seen if his time away from the league helped him improve as a player and individual.
Due to this startling trend, another polarizing athlete is hoping the Clippers will give him a way back into the league.
Miles Bridges wants to return to the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers
After seeing KPJ get a chance with the Clippers, Miles Bridges hoped that he would also get a shot at making an NBA comeback after seeing Porter get a contract.
Per Fadeaway World’s Ishaan Bhattacharya:
“People close to Bridges said that after seeing how Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has been willing to give players second chances, the team would be a great fit for him and that Bridges has learned from his mistakes.”
People within Bridges’ circle believe that he was hopeful that he would also get a shot after the Clippers offered the 24-year-old Porter Jr. a second chance at the NBA.
His performance for the Charlotte Hornets last season makes him the perfect player for the Clippers to acquire. The Michigan State alum averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in the 69 games he played in his last campaign with the team.
He’ll be a great piece to use if the Los Angeles Clippers badly need another man to take over for them. Whether they actually offer him a contract is an entirely different matter, though.
