Naturally, Paul George’s first meeting in NBA free agency would be with his incumbent team, the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, discussions did not go according to plan, and it appears that the meeting failed to bring the two parties to an agreement.
In fact, you could say that the sit-down turned out to be a disaster now that it has resulted in George’s looming exit even more imminent.
Los Angeles Clippers News: Paul George Unlikely to Return

Apparently, the Clippers weren’t changing their stance. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that LA “remained steadfast on a three-year deal, similar to structure of Kawhi Leonard’s contract structure,” which is not the type of deal George is seeking.
This has led to George’s camp pulling out of negotiations in order to find the deal they are looking for elsewhere:
“ESPN Sources: Paul George’s agent — Aaron Mintz of CAA — and Clippers president Lawrence Frank had a conversation a short time ago that resulted in no new movement on a deal and an acknowledgment by both that George is unlikely to return to the Clippers,” Woj reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Woj then followed up his initial report with a bombshell on the Philadelphia 76ers now emerging as the favorites to land George in free agency.
“The Clippers’ exit leaves the 76ers as strong frontrunners to land Paul George on a free agent deal, sources tell ESPN. The Sixers contingent is set to meet with George in California tonight,” Woj tweeted.
LA was insistent on not giving George the max deal he is seeking, and with the Sixers reportedly willing to do so, it now appears that the nine-time All-Star is heading to Philly.
