Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue is optimistic that Bradley Beal will do well with the team this upcoming season, especially after the latter went through a disappointing stint with the Phoenix Suns.
When the Phoenix Suns bought out Beal’s contract, the Los Angeles Clippers took the opportunity to bring him in by signing the three-time NBA All-Star to a two-year, $11 million deal.
“When you play for a team like Phoenix like he did the last couple of years, you got Booker and KD, and you’re the third option,” Lue said about Beal on Club Shay Shay. “People like, ‘oh, he didn’t.’ He averaged 18 points, shot 50% from the field and 43% from 3.”
“He’s definitely going to be big help for us offensively. We’re going to need him to score, but outside of scoring, we’re going to need him to make plays for other guys,” he added.

In the same podcast episode, Tyronn Lue revisited the 2019 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Los Angeles Clippers head coach strongly believes that it was the right move for both teams.
“No, I didn’t and we talked about it all the time, and 30 GMs or presidents, if it would have been done all over again, I would have done the trade too,” Lue explained. “PG was second in MVP voting. Two-way player. It was like Jordan and Pippen. And Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) was a really good young player, but you didn’t know he was gonna be this. And I think it was the best thing for Shai. He was able to grow and figure it out and have his own team.”
“Anything in hindsight is 20/20. You can say I would have never done that, but who wouldn’t have traded a first-year player for a guy like PG (Paul George) to team up with Kawhi? Anybody would have done that,” he added.
