The Los Angeles Lakers made the first big move this offseason by hiring JJ Redick to become their next head coach. There’s still more to be done, however, as LeBron James’ future with the team remains uncertain, and there have been talks of the front office planning to trade for a third star to keep themselves in title contention.

Trading for a third star would likely see the Los Angeles Lakers part ways with Austin Reaves, but his agent recently revealed in a statement that this is unlikely to happen, at least this offseason.
“This coach is about to show a different part of Austin’s game none have you seen. Kept receipts on all that third superstar bullshit. Great hire for LA – going to be a big year next season,” Aaron Reilly posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Reaves has been in trade rumors earlier this year, as his name was thrown out there in potential trade scenarios involving Atlanta Hawks’ Dejounte Murray and Trae Young, but the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t pull the trigger.
JJ Redick has big plans for Austin Reaves, per Los Angeles Lakers insider
Shams Charania, Sam Amick, and Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently released a report on JJ Redick’s hiring, which included plans on how his work will be cut out for him.
According to the article, Redick’s main agenda for the Los Angeles Lakers is the development of their young players, including Austin Reaves, Max Christie, and Rui Hachimura, while involving Anthony Davis more in the offense and lessen LeBron James’ ball-handling responsibilities.
