Former Los Angeles Lakers assistant Phil Handy took exception to Daryl Morey’s viral quote about the team’s 2020 bubble championship, as the Philadelphia 76ers exec seemingly questioned the legitimacy of the title.

In Handy’s view, the Los Angeles Lakers deserve more credit for winning in the bubble because of the mental strain they experienced en route to winning Banner No. 17.

“They can talk all that s**t they want,” Handy said on X (formerly known as Twitter). “If you weren’t in the bubble to win it, maybe you want to keep quiet about it.”

“Every team came into the bubble to compete and win. If Houston would have beat us and won it, I’m sure they wouldn’t be saying it wasn’t real lol,” he concluded.

Los Angeles Lakers News: Luka Doncic explains his body transformation

If the Los Angeles Lakers make another title run, it’ll likely be on the back of an MVP-caliber season from Luka Doncic. The Slovenian star looks thinner than in the past few months, so much so that he has been featured on the cover of Men’s Health magazine.

“Obviously, I try to not read much, just try to focus,” Doncic said about his new-look physique in an interview with The Today Show. “I think I was still a pretty good basketball player back then, no matter what people say.”

“I think it was the next step in my career,” he continued. “At the end, I’m still 26, I got a long way to go, so that was a good step in my career.”
