Darvin Ham finally gave his stand behind his expulsion as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his two seasons of overseeing the Lakers roster, Ham firmly believes that he has enhanced his former players and brought his team into good runs and victories.

Ham believed that he maximized his stay with the team from his entry in 2022 until his dismissal last May 2024, giving all of his efforts into managing his players and improving their runs from the previous seasons.

“The state of the team when they hired me, up until the day they fired me, I like to think it improved. And that’s all I care about,” Ham said in an interview with ESPN Reporter Dave McMenamin

“I poured myself, my heart and soul, into that team trying to improve it from where it was – 33-49.”

In his recent interview with ESPN, Ham reflected on his two seasons as the Lakers head coach. He emphasized how he brought the team to the Western Conference Finals and eventually became the first NBA In-Season champions despite challenges such as injuries.

“To get to the Western Conference finals in one year, have guys benefit from it financially. To have that excitement going into that next year, get derailed by injuries, still manage to win the in-season tournament and get to the playoffs, I thank God every day,” Ham said.

Ham remained steadfast in his beliefs amidst lingering doubts and rumors from those around him.

“Some people have certain opinions and those are opinions, but if you really look at the facts, there’s not much for me personally I have to say. So, that’s it.”

Currently, Darvin Ham is an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite his unsuccessful history with the Lakers, Ham harbors no resentment toward his former team and is even grateful for giving him the chance to be its head coach for two seasons.

Darvin Ham gets mocked in his recent game against the Lakers

Despite resorting to his new team, the Milwaukee Bucks, Darvin Ham remains the topic of ridicule and mockery on social media. After losing against his former team, the Lakers, Ham, and the Bucks’ head coach, Doc Rivers, were trolled by LeBron James’ friend on Instagram.

The Bucks and Lakers recently clashed in an NBA preseason match. The latter ultimately won by five points after an intense game. LeBron James‘ companion, Cuffs The Legend, went to social media to express scorn over Ham and Rivers about their perceived “dumbness.”

“Dumb and Dumber,” Cuffs The Legend said.

So far, Ham’s team, the Bucks, are 0-2 in the preseason. However, they didn’t show any concern over their record, warming up for the actual games on October 22, with their first match being two days later.
