LeBron James is aware of the pressure pro athletes face daily. He’s been burdened with such attention since he was a teenager. His current Los Angeles Lakers team constantly brings contentious narratives he has to deal with.
Given his two decades of experience playing in the NBA, he has a unique point of view regarding fans sending negative messages to star players. He experienced it during his time with the Miami Heat, and he’s constantly getting jeered by Lakers fans. Even his son is not safe from these narratives.

With these things in consideration, it makes all the more sense that he had some choice words for Cleveland fans when he saw them ganging up on one of the key players of his hometown football team.
LeBron James speaks up against Deshaun Watson’s verbal harassment from frustrated Cleveland Browns fans

The Cleveland Browns, James’ hometown NFL team, recently lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that’s marked with neutered performances from the offense. To make things worse, Deshaun Watson was carted off due to another injury.
The Clemson alum’s struggles to stay healthy—alongside his subpar quarterback play and the humongous contract the team is paying him—easily had the fans talking smack about him online.
James, who saw the slander, took to social media and addressed the fans on Twitter (now known as X).
“Cleveland Fans!” James wrote. “[Y’all] know how much we’ve been thru throughout the years both good, bad and indifferent. With that being said booing anyone that’s down with an injury let alone your own player is LAME AF!!”
He finished his post with thanking Browns fans who didn’t hound their QB with criticism.
Fans predictably lashed back at the four-time NBA champion.
“I think it’s okay to boo a serial sexual predator,” one fan replied.
Another quipped about how James is associating himself with problematic personalities like Watson and Sean “Diddy” Combs. One more reasoned that the biggest reason people were going after Watson is for his sexual deviance.
Will King James lead the Los Angeles Lakers to one more championship?

Even if James didn’t speak up about the criticism Watson faced, his performance for the Purple and Gold this season will always be questioned.
Everyone will recognize that King James is a player that defies common basketball logic. The fact that he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists at age 39 is amazing. However, the Western Conference is a tough place to get out of.
Fans will be hopeful that JJ Redick can help James and Anthony Davis position the Lakers to a better spot for the NBA title. Until then, James will have to deal with more aggressive eyes on him thanks to his comments on Watson.
