The Los Angeles Lakers will visit the San Antonio Spurs for the second game of their latest back-to-back set, and LeBron James joked that he will be a “TBD” in the next back-to-backs for the rest of the season due to his old age.
James, 41, missed the start of the 2025-26 campaign due to sciatica. The four-time NBA champion and league MVP has made 17 regular season appearances for the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 21.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists on 51.1 percent shooting from the field.
“Every back-to-back for the rest of the season, it’s TBD,” James quipped via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “At 41, I’ve got the most minutes in NBA history. Bank it right now.”
“He’s Greg Maddux at the end of his career. Every night, he doesn’t have his best stuff, but he has enough to win. I’m his catcher. I’ve got to figure out how to call the pitches. Sometimes he tells me to F off, and he calls his own pitch, which is fine too,” head coach JJ Redick said of James.

Los Angeles Lakers News: LeBron James opens up on fitting his game with Luka Doncic
LeBron James knows that, for the Los Angeles Lakers to be successful, he needs to defer to Luka Doncic, who is considered the future of the franchise. To their credit, James and Doncic have played off each other well during their three-game winning streak.
“Luka (Doncic) don’t need to bend his game (for me),” James emphasized. “Luka is our (26-year-old) franchise for this ballclub. He don’t need to bend his game. It’s up to us to bend our game around him and figure it out.”
“We just try to be dynamic and work off of him. We know he is an unbelievable pick-and-roll player, unbelievable shotmaker. He commands the defense. He has four eyes, sometimes six eyes on him. So, it’s up to us to put ourselves in the right position… It’s not a problem for me; it’s not an issue for me,” he continued.
