Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James remarkably is still active as a player in the NBA. About to turn 40 years old in December, the NBA’s four-time Most Valuable Player has won everything there is to be won in the league, but the desire to compete continues to burn inside The King.
Among his most recent achievements as a basketball player was winning the gold medal over the summer at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Teaming up with Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry also had James crossing out an item on his list.
“It was everything and more. I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere,” James shared about the experience of playing alongside Curry in Paris, per Dan Woike of Yahoo Sports.
“That’s what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to want to be a part of that team, along with Steph. Great memories. Something that I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure.”
But will the two future Basketball Hall of Famers become teammates in the NBA down the road?
“I have no idea,” said James. “I have no idea.”

Will Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James one day team up with Stephen Curry in the NBA?

It is not impossible to see James and Curry play for the same NBA team one day, but that’s going to be easier said than done. For one, Curry is under contract with the Warriors until the end of the 2026-27 NBA season. Meanwhile, James just inked a two-year extension deal over the summer with the Lakers. In other words, Curry wants to finish his career with the Warriors and James with the Lakers.
But then again, there is no such thing as a sure thing in the NBA.
