LeBron James recently set social media ablaze when he teased a “second decision” announcement, which many thought pertained to his impending retirement. As it turns out, it was merely a Hennessy ad, and the Los Angeles Lakers star drew backlash from fans and media.

The ticket prices for the Los Angeles Lakers’ final home matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers skyrocketed because of James’ teaser, which left one long-time fan angry, to the point that he plans to sue the four-time NBA champion.
“Andrew Garcia, a 29-year-old, lifelong Lakers fan, filed the lawsuit in a small claims court in Los Angeles County on Wednesday, claiming James owes him $865.66 after he says the hooper seemingly intimated he was about to announce his retirement,” TMZ Sports reported.

“Garcia wrote in his suit that James now owes him because of ‘fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and any and all basis of legal recovery.’ He added in an interview with us, ‘I wouldn’t have purchased it if he wasn’t going to retire. Plain and simple.'”
Los Angeles Lakers News: LeBron James set to miss the team’s opener due to injury
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that LeBron James will miss up to the first three to four weeks of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2025-26 regular season due to sciatica on his right side.

“You’ve got to play the cards you’re dealt,” Redick said. “That’s a shame, but that’s just the reality… No one has got any time with LeBron. That’s not just (new center Deandre Ayton), but everybody. (James) hasn’t been on the court with the team, but that’s just the reality.”
James is embarking on becoming the first player to play a 23rd NBA season, which would break a tie with Vince Carter for having the longest career in league history.
