LeBron James is desperate to win at least another championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer has made it known that he is willing to lose up to $20 million in salary just to be able to help the Lakers bring in another star for the upcoming season.
Unfortunately, the Lakers struck out on James Harden, Klay Thompson, and Jonas Valancuinas, who were the three top names LeBron reportedly had on his wishlist. As such, it comes as no surprise that James’ patience is now running a bit thin.

According to a report by league insider Chris Haynes, LeBron has now set a deadline for the Lakers to make their move. The four-time NBA champ is reportedly giving the front office a week before he potentially demands a max contract extension (NBA reporter Ralph Mason):
“Haynes: Bron is giving FO a week. Lakers have had exploratory talks with Portland on Grant. I project they will make a significant move,” Mason wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Haynes also indicated in his report that a new target has emerged for the Lakers. This comes in the form of Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers, who previously signed a massive $160 million extension that will keep him in Portland through 2028.
This only means that the only way the Lakers will be able to get their hands on the 6-foot-7 forward is via a trade deal with the Blazers.

Multiple reports have indicated that the Lakers are shopping D’Angelo Russell, and he would likely be the centerpiece of whatever trade package the LA will be able to come up with in exchange for Grant.
