After losing three straight games to the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers were on the brink of elimination at their opponents’ hands. Fortunately, a monster performance by Anthony Davis kept their playoff hopes alive with a win over the Nikola Jokic-led team.

In that recent Game 4 between the two Western Conference teams, the Lakers went home with 119-108 win over Denver. Anthony Davis put up an impressive game by dishing 25 points on 64 percent shooting from the field, 23 rebounds, and six assists. LeBron James posted 30 points, five rebounds, and four assists in almost 39 minutes on the floor. Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell added 21 points each to help Los Angeles get the dub.

For his part, Jokic lifted the Nuggets on his shoulders when he notched 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists. Michael Porter contributed 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Jamal Murray still finished the game with 22 points, even though he only shot 39 percent from the field.

The Lakers’ most recent win snapped their 11-game losing streak against Denver, one that strecthed for almost two years. More importantly, it prevented the Nuggets from sweeping them in the first round and gave them a glimmer of hope to win the series. On the other hand, the loss exposed Denver’s weakness in the paint, as pointed out by head coach Michael Malone.

After the game, Davis faced the media and answered questions about Game 4. In a tweet posted by Rachel Nichols on X:

Anthony Davis on avoiding another 0-4 series vs Denver: “I just think there was a feeling in the room starting with yesterday’s film session – you know, it sucks to be swept, no one wants that feeling, especially going into the summer,” Nichols tweeted.

For the past four games, Davis has averaged 27.2 points, 15.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks per contest. The All-Star big man is also connecting 62 percent of his shots from the field and 83 percent of his attempts from the free throw line.

With the Lakers’ Game 4 win, their hope of advcancing and making a meaningful postseason run remains alive. If they manage to keep the mindset Davis mentioned alive, they’re going to give Jokic and the Nuggets a series to remember.
