Of all people, former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers wouldn’t forget how LeBron James’ chasedown block ended their perfect season in 2016. Turns out, the same play occcured in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 4 win against the Denver Nuggets.

In that series between the two teams, the Lakers went home with the 119-108 win over the Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets. James dropped 30 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Anthony Davis had a monster game of 25 points on 64 percent shooting from the field, 23 rebounds, and four assists. Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell made 21 points each in the victory.

For his part, Jokic had an impressive game as well when he tallied 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists. Michael Porter came up big for the Nuggets with his 27 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Jamal Murray shot a poor 39 percent from the field and finished the game with 22 points.

The win helped Los Angeles end their 11-game losing streak against the Nuggets. More importantly, though, the LeBron James-led squad prevented a sweep from occuring and their season ending in utter disappointment. The loss, however, meant Denver will have to win one more game before advancing to the next round.

Former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers Recalls Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James’ Iconic Chasedown Block

At some point in the game, James was seen chasing Murray to the basket and blocking his attempt to get a bucket. As pointed out by Myers, this play is reminiscent of the same one he did on former Warriors star Andre Iguodala during Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, as seen in a video posted by ESPN on X:

“Chasing down a block shot. I remember he did that one time in Oakland.”

That same play led to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship win in 2016, the first in franchise history. At the same time, it also stained the Warriors’ 73-9 regular season run, which led to Kevin Durant signing with the team shortly after.

Without a doubt, LeBron’s chasedown block is as iconic as it can get. With the series against the Nuggets going back to their home turf, there’s another opportunity to see the King work his magic in the coming days.
