Is LeBron James Retiring? Los Angeles Lakers Star Gets 100% Real

It’s no secret LeBron James’ past few years playing for the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been that good. And with Father Time catching up on him, the All-Star forward got real about hanging up his shoes and finally calling it a day.

James first made his way to the Lakers in 2018 after spending four years playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, including their championship run in 2016. With the franchise in dire straits before the King arrived, there was a hope he can restore glory back to Los Angeles and make them relevant in the NBA once again.

James did just that back in 2020 when he led the Lakers to win a championship inside the Bubble in Orlando. With Anthony Davis as his running mate and a roster filled with veterans, the King was able to deliver on his promise to win a ring in LA, becoming one of the few players to get championships with different teams in league history.

But after that 2020 championship run inside the Bubble, things haven’t been the same for James and the Lakers. Save for one postseason where they reached the Western Conference Finals, the Purple and Gold were usually eliminated early or didn’t make the playoffs at all. That happened recently when Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets ended their season, causing many to speculate whether James still has a lot of years left in his NBA career or not.

After Denver eliminated the Lakers, James found himself in the middle of so many rumors about his future in Los Angeles and retirement. In a tweet Bleacher Report posted on X, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer got real on the latter:

After playing 21 seasons in the league, James has amassed 40,474 points, the most in NBA history, 11,185 rebounds, and 11,009 assists. He also has four rings, four Finals MVPs, four regular season MVPs, a Rookie of the Year award, and 20 All-Star Game selections, among others.

James’s fate, both in Los Angeles and as an active NBA player, won’t be known anytime soon. For sure, fans of the Lakers star will be keeping a close eye on him in the coming months to see how his situation will develop.
