It’s no secret that LeBron James really wanted Klay Thompson on the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, the 20-time All-Star even called the former Golden State Warriors star to try and recruit him to LA.
The Lakers obviously failed in their pursuit to land Thompson, who eventually decided to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. The same can be said of LA’s DeMar DeRozan chase, who shunned the Lakers in favor of a move to the Sacramento Kings.
Los Angeles Lakers News: LeBron James Vocal on LA’s Free Agency Struggles

For his part, however, LeBron isn’t really sweating it. It’s not as if James was not left disappointed by LA’s inability to land Thompson or DeRozan, but the Lakers talisman knows that this isn’t the end of the world for them:
“It takes two to tango,” LeBron told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin of the Lakers’ failed attempts. “I think our front office, our coaching staff, they tried to do the job that they wanted to do or tried to get guys to come and it didn’t happen. And that’s OK. That’s part of the business. I’ve been in this business long enough to know that sometimes it happens, sometimes it don’t.
“So we don’t sit here and lie about or cry about it. We move on and Klay’s a great player. Obviously DeMar’s a great player. Valanciunas was one of those guys who ended up going to Washington, was someone that was in talks with us, but we move on to see how we continue to get better.
“I’m looking forward to this fall when I get back out there.”

As James hinted in his statement above, the Lakers are still exploring other options in the market. Things may not have gone according to plan for them thus far, but this does not mean that LA won’t be a better side once the new season starts.
