After waiving Jordan Goodwin and Trey Jemison III, and agreeing to a new two-year deal with Marcus Smart recently, the Los Angeles Lakers may not be done in this summer’s free agency just yet.

According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Los Angeles Lakers still have Malcolm Brogdon on their radar, but there’s a catch.
“The Lakers now have 14 players under contract for the 2025-26 season and are just over $1 million from the first-apron tax line. While the Lakers could pursue other veterans still available in free agency with their final roster spot, they would first need to free up space to do so,” Siegel wrote.
“(Malcolm) Brogdon, a player Los Angeles expressed trade interest in before the 2025 NBA trade deadline, remains on their radar should the team free up extra funds in a small consolidation trade,” he added.

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal believes that the team made some great moves this summer, but he remains concerned about their lack of a knockdown shooter on the current roster.
“They have a legitimate big now, got two premier players,” O’Neal said via RG. “I’m still worried about the shooting. It’s a three-point league now. Not guys that can shoot, (I’m talking about) bona fide shooters. Guys that are guaranteed, like JJ Redick. He was a bona fide shooter. They got the point guard, got the off-guard, got a legitimate center. Their chances are much better now.”
Brogdon doesn’t exactly fit into O’Neal’s description. However, it is worth noting that the former Rookie and Sixth Man of the Year is a career 38.8 percent three-point shooter.
