Los Angeles Lakers: Reports confirmed on Tuesday that Gary Trent Jr. had decided to take his talents to the Milwaukee Bucks on a one-year deal. Trent was one of the Lakers’ few remaining free-agent targets, and this development is yet another blow to the team’s offseason plans.
At this point, you can’t really blame the fans for being a bit apprehensive amid the Lakers’ unproductive offseason.
Los Angeles Lakers Will Remain Patient

According to a report by NBA insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic, however, the Lakers aren’t panicking. In fact, they are reportedly “expected to remain patient in their quest to improve their roster.”
This only means that the front office will not be making any drastic or desperate moves in the wake of this most recent free-agency development. This is also notwithstanding the fact that the Lakers also struck out on big-name free agents such as Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, and Jonas Valanciunas, to name a few.

Buha did report, though, that Trent’s decision to reunite with former Portland Trail Blazers teammate Damian Lillard in Milwaukee will impact LA’s plans moving forward. However, the fact of the matter is that the Lakers are more than willing to wait it out.
“Trent’s decision could alter the Lakers’ urgency. Regardless, the Lakers expect to make a consolidation trade at some point, though that could come closer to the start of the season, according to league sources,” Buha wrote.
A big move could still be forthcoming for the Lakers. It’s just that they appear to be in no rush right now.
