WNBA star Angel Reese expressed her pride for former LSU Tigers teammate Aneesah Morrow as she celebrated a significant milestone in her basketball career. Morrow’s achievement of surpassing Chiney Ogwumike’s NCAA record has garnered attention and admiration from fans and fellow athletes alike.

Morrow delivered an impressive performance in LSU’s recent victory over UIC, leading her team to a decisive 91-73 win. Despite a slow start, Morrow showcased her resilience and skill, finishing the game with 19 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and four steals. Her ability to bounce back after struggling early on exemplifies her determination and versatility as a player.

The game held special significance for Morrow, as it took place just miles from her hometown, where many family and friends were in attendance. Despite facing double teams throughout the match, she effectively contributed on both ends of the court. Morrow’s exceptional play has now earned her 86 double-doubles in her Division I career, placing her sixth all-time in NCAA history.

LSU faced challenges during the first half, with UIC’s tenacious defense forcing them into a series of turnovers. However, the Tigers regrouped after halftime, launching a strong offensive run that included a 12-0 scoring streak. Morrow’s performance was pivotal in this turnaround, as she consistently found ways to impact the game, whether through scoring or rebounding.

Head coach Kim Mulkey noted the importance of Morrow’s play in overcoming UIC’s defensive strategies. While the team celebrated the win, Mulkey expressed concern over the 73 points allowed, emphasizing the need for a stronger defensive effort in future games. Nonetheless, Morrow’s contributions were vital, helping the Tigers secure the victory.
