A 1-on-1 tournament in the All-Star Game has been widely requested by fans and some critics to make the February NBA festivities more watchable. Lots of hypothetical takes have been made and Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is chiming in and his take might be something nobody saw coming.

Basketball is a game of the giants and him choosing Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is a logical choice. Doncic is not deviating from that as he believes The Alien might reach the finals.
Who will be good enough to surpass everyone and meet the Spurs star in the final dance? It’s the player who can make opponents literally dance on the floor.
“That’s a tough question,” Doncic responded when asked “who plays who” in a 1-on-1 finals in the Hot Ones show.
“So many good players, but I feel like Wemby [Victor Wembanyama] is going to be there. One-on-one, you can’t score on him. The second one, [I would] probably put Kyrie [Irving] in there. His one one one moves are insane. So, it’ll be between those two.”

“I kinda have to see that, that’s like true Davis vs Goliath situation,” the host responded.
Luka Doncic praises Kyrie Irving
There’s more than feet separating Irving and Wembanyama’s height. The former is 6’2 while the latter is 7’5 after growing around 2 inches this summer. So how will this go? How can the Dallas Mavericks star get one against Wemby?
Doncic saw Irving’s skills up close in their two seasons together and he has tremendous respect for his dribbling skills.

“I’ve seen a lot, especially in practice, he tries even more,” Doncic said.
“In the games, he does things that nobody can try, but in practice, he tries even more. When you think you stop him, he always finds a way to get to the basket. The ball handling, you can’t learn that. He tried to teach me a little bit, but you can’t do it. The things he does, you can’t.”
The NBA should give the green light to this 1-on-1 tournament so that it can finally put to test Doncic’s theory.
