Luka Dončić doesn’t forget what his rival Dennis Schröder missed. And he made damn sure Schröder remembered his biggest bag fumble.

The Los Angeles Lakers-Sacramento Kings matchup delivered that premium petty, and his trash talk landed perfectly as Dončić torched Sacramento for 34 points in the 125-101 blowout.
But nobody expected the Slovenian superstar to cook Schröder with an epic haymaker. His reply was less trash talk and more a financial history lesson served ice cold.

NBA fans instantly recognized the context. Back in 2021, Schröder turned down a four-year, $84 million extension from the Lakers. Not surprisingly, the decision haunted him immediately, as he bet on himself and lost spectacularly.
That year, he ultimately ended up signing a one-year, $2.64 million deal with Boston Celtics. That’s more than an $80 million difference and around $19 million less yearly revenue.
The fumble echoes through NBA circles as one of the worst contract decisions in modern history because from then to now, whatever contract he got was under $50M.
Dončić brought that pain right back to the surface with no mercy. However, Schroder kicked off the back-and-forth and even coughed up some threats, but Luka just calmly destroyed the Kings’ player’s every attack with a humble reply.
Kings’ head coach, Doug Christie, even tried to stop Schroder later on, but Doncic apparently said, “He’s talking too much; I love it.”
Doncic not only just won in the trash-talking segment but also outperformed Schröder’s 11 points by shooting five three-pointers.
LeBron James joined that scoring party with 24 points to snap their three-game skid. Following the game, the Lakers improved to 20-10 (20-11 after losing to Detroit Pistons), while the Kings fell to 8-24.
