Magic Johnson has nothing but admiration for his alma mater, the Michigan State Spartans, after clinching the Big Ten championship against their state rivals, the Michigan Wolverines. One of the Spartans’ legends, Johnson continues to be a devoted supporter of his college team.

The No. 8 Spartans had a decisive 79-62 victory this Sunday, sending them to the March Madness Tournament for 26 consecutive years. They dominated the game in the first half, 50-28, eventually closing it, and the regular season, with a seven-game winning streak and a 26-5 standing.

In his X/Twitter account, Magic Johnson congratulated the Spartans, praising their performance at the crucial game.

“The Spartans checked all the boxes today – Defense, pace of the game, rebounding, free throws and they hit 9 three pointers! @MSU_Basketball,” Johnson tweeted.

Trey Holloman has been crucial for the Spartans’ victory, scoring 20 points from the bench. Starters Jase Richardson and Jaden Akins contributed 29 points. Akins leads the team in points, averaging 13.0.

The Spartans seek another deep playoff run this year, hoping to overcome their second-round loss against North Carolina last season. With Tom Izzo’s veteran coaching and his players’ skills, the team has the potential to win and might even reach the Final Four like they did in 2019.

Magic Johnson sends good luck to the Lakers before Celtics match

Magic Johnson voiced his support for the LA Lakers before its Saturday matchup against longtime rivals, the Boston Celtics. Having faced the Celtics in several legendary battles during his career, Johnson expressed excitement for the matchup between the two top-seeded teams.

On his X/Twitter account, Magic Johnson shared a throwback photo of himself with the Lakers, guarding Celtics legend Larry Bird. He also posted a picture from his Michigan State days, sending support to the team ahead of their game against the Michigan Wolverines.

“This is rivalry weekend for me, starting tonight with the Lakers vs the most hated Celtics and continuing tomorrow with my Spartans vs the Wolverines!,” Johnson tweeted.

The Lakers lost their eighth-consecutive win streak in their Celtics game, but the match is far from a blowout. LeBron James, who recently achieved the 50,000-point milestone, made 22 points and 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves scored 34 and 22 points.

Since his retirement in 1996, Magic Johnson has witnessed the Lakers’ continuous success in the Finals. His contribution to the team’s legacy was undeniable, spearheading the Showtime Era, in which he won five championships.
