The Orlando Magic may have recorded the biggest comeback yet of the season by erasing a 25-point deficit in win against the Miami Heat but there’s no luck behind it. If anything, luck is far from their vicinity as Mo Wagner, another high impact player, gets declared out for the season due to knee injury.

The Magic confirmed that veteran big man, who got injured after just 2 minutes of play against Miami, will not return to play this 2024-2025 season.

“Moritz Wagner underwent an MRI today and results revealed that Wagner has sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

“Wagner will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season,” the team announced through its social media accounts.

Mo joins his brother Franz and Paolo Banchero to the list of high impact players that will significant games for the Magic this season.

Both Franz and Banchero are having a breakout season, with their of them qualified to be an All-Star, before going down.

The younger Wagner was first confirmed out indefinitely almost two weeks ago due to a torn right oblique.

Banchero, who made it to the All-Star Game in 2024, has been out for the 7th week after suffering a torn right abdominal muscle.

Who will step up in Mo Wagner’s absence?

The Magic exemplified the “next man up” tag this season.

After Banchero went down, Franz Wagner played his best year so far. When it was the latter who got unlucky, everyone did their job.

Last game, it was Cole Anthony who stepped up from the bench as he scored 35 points, 25 in the second half, to bring back the Magic from the jaws of defeat.

Jalen Suggs also had his moments before going down with a minor injury.

Right now, Goga Bitadze is expected to take much of the load in the center position.
