Malik Beasley had his best years with the Detroit Pistons and that is the main reason why he is choosing that team in case he gets cleared for a return.

The shooting guard finished second in most three pointers made in the 2024-25 season wearing the Detroit jersey. The first place was taken away from him by former teammate Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards on the last day.
He was supposed to get a $42 million deal with them. However, he was immediately let go after this illegal gambling scandal broke out shortly after the end of the NBA finals.
Beasley holds no grudge against the Pistons. In fact, he is ready to run it back with them.
“If I do go back to the NBA, it’s gonna be with the Pistons,” Beasley said, via Pistons Talk. “I haven’t signed anything yet, but I have my strongest ties there.
“I had my best season there last year, and hopefully I can fit back in with the team.”

Right now, Beasley was only cleared in New York but his scandal that broke out late June is still ongoing as the NBA continues to investigate him.
Can Malik Beasley negotiate?
Pistons made it known before that they would love to have him back before the scandal. However, the talks were stopped. That doesn’t mean that mutual interest cannot be expressed. It is only Beasley who is not allowed to talk to any team while the investigation is ongoing.
He got his agent taking care of it. Their camp has openly expressed that they are looking for teams to play for.
“I personally can’t talk to the Pistons, my agents can,” he said.
“Team wise there’s no official offer yet because NBA hasn’t cleared us yet. It’s most likely that if I do go back to the NBA it’s going to be with the Pistons.”

Beasley’s got even more complicated last month after a series of arrest of certain NBA personalities for illegal gambling ties. His lawyer cleared that Beasley is not connected to any of those.
“I want to make this perfectly clear any avoidance Malik Beasley has in connection with today’s developments in the federal gambling arrests has no relationship whatsoever to any alleged or accused cooperation or information provided to the eastern district of New York,” lawyer, Steve Haney, said via Detroit Free Press.
