Malik Beasley’s breakout season may have raised his profile, but his summer has been nothing short of a nightmare. The free-agent guard is now facing a federal gambling investigation — and that’s just the start of his troubles.

After news of the probe surfaced, Hazan Sports, Beasley’s former agency, hit him with a lawsuit alleging breach of contract. Adding to the spiral, reports surfaced that he was evicted from his Detroit apartment for unpaid rent.
Through it all, Beasley stayed quiet — until this week, when he hinted on Instagram that he’s ready to speak out. Posting a series of animated photos, the Pistons guard dropped a telling caption:
“ohhh boy.. I got a story to tell 💭💭💭,” he wrote.
His girlfriend, Natalia Garibotto, backed him publicly, commenting, “Can’t wait for you to open up,” with a heart emoji.
“I feel like people turned their backs on me”: Malik Beasley breaks his silence
Malik Beasley has been under investigation since June for alleged betting violations tied to the 2023-24 season, when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s accused of wagering on NBA games he participated in and placing bets on his own prop lines.
According to ESPN, the probe began after a sportsbook flagged suspicious activity on Beasley’s prop bets starting in January 2024.

On the court, Beasley delivered a career year in Detroit, averaging 16.3 points per game, shooting 41.6% from deep, and hitting a personal-best 3.9 threes per contest. Off the court, the headlines have been far less flattering.
Last week, before his Instagram post, Beasley had already expressed frustration over the backlash.
“I feel like people turned their backs on me,” he said on Snapchat. “Low-key, I mean, like, people were saying some crazy things in the media. If you go on my Instagram, you’ll see the craziest s—t. You know, people judge me. Have I made mistakes in my life? Yes. Am I proud of those mistakes? No.”

For now, Beasley appears to be holding his side of the story — but it’s clear he wants the chance to tell it.
