There’s no doubt Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks have what it takes to compete for another shot at a ring. What’s surprising is how they’re playing like the second-best NBA team in the Western Conference this early in the season.

Dallas is making waves in the NBA, solidifying their status as serious contenders this season. With a potent combination of star power and depth, the Mavs have demonstrated their capabilities on both ends of the court. Doncic continues to impress with his exceptional playmaking and scoring, while the addition of key players has bolstered their lineup.

This season, the Mavericks have focused on improving their defense, a critical area that has plagued them in previous years. By integrating versatile defenders and enhancing their overall team chemistry, they are becoming a more balanced squad. Their recent performances reflect this growth, as they consistently challenge top teams in the league.

As the season progresses, the Mavericks are not only aiming for a playoff spot but also looking to make a deep postseason run. Their ability to maintain consistency and adapt to opponents will be crucial in achieving their goals. The Western Conference is competitive, with teams like the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors also vying for supremacy, making every game significant.

Fans are excited about the Mavericks’ potential, and the front office has shown commitment to building a championship-caliber team. If they can stay healthy and continue to gel as a unit, the Mavericks may very well emerge as one of the top contenders in the league. With their sights set on the ultimate prize, the upcoming months will be pivotal for Dallas as they strive to turn their aspirations into reality.

Bleacher Report’s NBA Analysis Explains Why Dallas Mavericks Are Second-Best in the West

At this point in the season, Dallas is playing like a contender for the ring next year. According to an analysis by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, they’re not considered the second-best team in the West.

Noisy returns are a rite of October. But that’s also the point. The Mavs are galaxies away from operating at peak capacity.

Luka Dončić is going to be better, because he’s going to make more shots. The Dereck Lively II-plus-starters unit is going to be better, because, well, obviously. P.J. Washington is going to be better, because he won’t shoot sub-20 percent from downtown forever. Naji Marshall will also be better, because offensive streakiness and all, rumor has it he won’t continue to miss every three-point attempt he takes.

Frankly, Dallas’ performance thus far should put the rest of the league on notice. This is a team that has yet to find itself in totality and is pretty damn good anyway.

The Mavericks have surprised early in the season, boasting a strong defense while Doncic and Klay Thompson lead the charge. Despite a shaky start, their potential remains high as they seek consistency. If they can elevate their game, they might emerge as serious contenders in the West.
