Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was recently a hot topic on social media platforms as news of her getting banned from Mavs games went viral, citing influences related to Klay Thompson.

Over at X, one account posted that Megan Thee Stallion has been banned from being in games of the Dallas Mavericks, citing that she has had a negative impact on her boyfriend, Klay Thompson.

“Mavs have banned Megan Thee Stallion from home games, calling her a ‘distraction’ for Klay Thompson,” the account said. The post even tagged senior analyst Chris Haynes as the source.

However, a closer look at the source gave a strong hint at the authenticity of the news. For starters, the news came from an account called Logion Noops. Despite having a blue check, “Logion Noops” is a parody of “Legion Hoops,” which is a trusted third-party source of basketball industry news.

The account was also tagged as a parody, and therefore, all of its posts and updates should be regarded as parody and satire, not legitimate news. In addition, no trusted journalism sources/trade publications (including the official Dallas Mavericks website), the official social media accounts for Megan and Thompson, or any other reputable publications have shared any news or updates on what they claim to be news.

Megan Thee Stallion showed up in full Texas style at the Dallas Mavericks’ recent home game, wearing a cowboy hat, boots, and sparkling Dallas jewelry as she supported her boyfriend, guard Klay Thompson. The Grammy-winning rapper mixed fashion with fandom, greeting Thompson with postgame embraces and celebrating while also promoting her new single, “LOVER GIRL.”

Thompson had another pedestrian night, scoring only eight points, as Dallas lost to the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, 101-94. The veteran shooting guard finished the first week of the season averaging 9.3 point per game and the Mavericks sit at 1-3.

Contrasting the loss to the eerie excitement that Megan delivered to the arena once she arrived from her courtside seats into Thompson’s player’s box with family and friends, including Thompson’s mother Julie.

After the defeat, Megan posted an Instagram Reel capturing impromptu dance moves in the mostly empty arena as she waited for Thompson, captioning the clip “This kinda it lol” and keeping the tone playful despite the team’s struggles.

Megan Thee Stallion’s visible enthusiasm highlights the personal side of an otherwise rocky start for Thompson as he works to rediscover the form that made him a four-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star with Golden State.
