The Memphis Grizzlies’ depth has taken another massive hit, as the team recently confirmed that Ty Jerome, one of their prized offseason acquisitions, is out for at least four weeks due to a calf strain he sustained in the team’s preseason finale against the Miami Heat.

Jerome signed with the Memphis Grizzlies this summer after a breakout campaign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former Sixth Man of the Year candidate averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals on 51.6 percent shooting from the field across 70 regular season appearances.
As things stand, the Memphis Grizzlies will start the 2025-26 NBA season without Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr., Zach Edey, and Brandon Clarke. Pippen is set to undergo surgery on his left big toe. Edey is still recovering from the ankle surgery he had in early June, and Clarke also had a knee procedure a few weeks ago.

The fans are hoping that Ja Morant (ankle) is good to go in the opener on Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Otherwise, there’ll be more play time for Javon Small, Cam Spencer, and rookie Cedric Coward.
Memphis Grizzlies fans react to the team’s recent spate of injuries
The Memphis Grizzlies haven’t even played a minute in the regular season, and the fans are already pessimistic for this year because of the team’s poor injury luck.

“Truly just feel for the Grizzlies and everyone involved there. How unlucky can a team get with injuries seemingly every single season?” The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“As a Grizzlies season ticket holder, we’re hoping this leads to the front office finally getting fired. They’re holding this franchise hostage Atp.”
“Tanking year for us.”
“As a Grizzlies fan, I can tell you we’ve got pretty bad sports PTSD. Everyone panics when we get a @GrizzliesPR notification,” another fan chimed in.
