The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 121-103 at the Intuit Dome on Monday night for their third win in their last four, but it came at a cost, as they lost Ja Morant to a left ankle injury in the final quarter.
Morant was driving to the basket when he hurt his ankle after he stepped on Ivica Zubac’s foot with 3:44 left in the game. He didn’t return to the court, but the Memphis Grizzlies already had a 116-93 advantage at the time.
“Very unfortunate that Ja (Morant) tweaked his ankle there. He’ll be evaluated further, but we don’t have anything else on that. Hoping for the best,” Memphis Grizzlies head coach Tuomas Iisalo said via Grind City Media. “A little bit bitter taste from the win because of that, but great performance from the whole team.”
The Memphis Grizzlies star finished with 12 points, three rebounds, and four assists on 4-for-12 shooting from the field in 21 minutes. Morant was playing his second game back after missing 10 games due to a calf injury.

Memphis Grizzlies News: Jaren Jackson Jr. and Cam Spencer came to play vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Jaren Jackson Jr. and Cam Spencer were vital for the Memphis Grizzlies last night. Jackson had 31 points, four rebounds, four assists, five blocks, and four three-pointers on 13-for-18 shooting from the field, while Spencer contributed a career-high 27 points, three rebounds, six assists, and seven three-pointers on 9-for-13 shooting off the bench.
“My teammates give me confidence to go out there and just play freer,” Jackson told reporters. “I don’t really think about anything. Right before the game, Ja (Morant) told me to go out there and get 30.”
“I’d like to play well for the team, but as long as we win, that’s all I really care about,” Spencer stated. “We’ve been on a good run here. We gotta keep the momentum going… Just trying to make the right plays for our team.”
