The Memphis Grizzlies had to settle for a losing season after losing Ja Morant to a season-ending injury. It’s been a tough season for Morant as he had to deal with a 25-game suspension before he was able to play nine games for the Grizzlies.

While he’s already making moves to improve his game, fans are still anxious to see how his recovery is faring. The high-flying guard had to sit out the rest of the season due to his shoulder injury, so fans knew that the situation is serious for him.

Morant gave fans an update on his status that would give fans a bit of a boost ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Morant posted on Instagram that gave fans an idea of what’s going on with him and the team. It was a black-and-white photo of him with his Memphis Grizzlies teammates, and its caption was as straightforward as it gets.

The post may have just been a reminder to fans that he’s still working on his full recovery. However, Grizzlies fans would probably be just happy to get an update from their star man.

While Morant only played nine games this season, his numbers are nothing to scoff at. He averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists on 47.1% shooting. However, it’s clear that the suspension did terrible things to his shooting as he only converted 27.1% of his three-point attempts.

The Memphis Grizzlies need to step up for next season

Morant’s road to full recovery is great news for the Grizzlies, but that doesn’t discount the fact that the team had a disappointing season.

Many of their key players were injured for huge chunks of the season, and their injury situation got so dire that they had to rely on their G League team to fill out their roster spots. Desmond Bane only played 42 games. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 66 to his name, and Marcus Smart only played 20 games for the Grizzlies.

The team needs to improve their strength and conditioning if they want to make a thunderous return to the playoffs next season.
