The Memphis Grizzlies acquired Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from the Desmond Bane trade this summer, and he has already endeared himself to his new fans. The one-time NBA champion recently defended the city of Memphis, dispelling the stereotype that the city is unsafe.

Caldwell-Pope recently spoke about his first impression of the city and experience on the latest episode of The Dawg Talk Podcast.
“I mean, Memphis is safe, man,” Caldwell-Pope explained. “Ever since I got traded, that’s all I was hearing before, but it’s been the total opposite of what I’ve actually experienced.”

“The condo I’m in, it’s nice. It’s one of the newest ones they just built out there. I’m about seven minutes from the arena. I’ve got places I can go out, eat, hang out, it’s cool. It’s real cool,” the Memphis Grizzlies swingman continued.
Memphis Grizzlies News: Jaren Jackson Jr. returns on the court in latest preseason loss
The Memphis Grizzlies dropped their fourth straight preseason game, a 145-116 loss against the Charlotte Hornets. However, it wasn’t all that bad, as Jaren Jackson Jr. played his first game since undergoing toe surgery over the summer.

“It was good to be back out there,” Jackson told Grind City Media. “Every day is just another chance to build on things… I was trying a lot of things, (but) even the shots I missed, I felt really good about. I just found it weird I missed them.”
Jackson logged 22 minutes and produced 17 points, two rebounds, and three three-pointers on 7-for-20 shooting from the field. Javon Small led the Memphis Grizzlies in scoring with 18 points.
