Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. celebrated a milestone that his head coach, Taylor Jenkins, achieved on Wednesday. Jenkins became the most successful coach in Grizzlies history, with the most wins, following their 117-111 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jackson’s 25-point performance was crucial to their victory. The club won thanks to 21 points from star shooting guard Desmond Bane. The All-Star forward congratulated his coach on X (formerly Twitter), but had a subtle shot at Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green.

“n he’s in your corner when it’s war time,” Jackson posted. “more to come.”

Last week, the Warriors had a 123-118 win over the Grizzlies. However, the game led to a rivalry between Green and Jenkins after the forward was called for a foul on rookie big man Zach Edey. The initial call on the four-time champion was that it was a “take” foul after he grabbed Edey’s leg before a fastbreak opportunity.

The officials upgraded the call to a flagrant 1 foul. Jenkins expressed his annoyance with Green’s play on the young center after the game.

“And very disappointing, there was that one play, we were about to start the break and he’s been playing really hard to try to outlet, and Draymond grabs his leg and pulls him down and it doesn’t get reviewed,” Jenkins said.

His statement regarding Green led the Warriors star to criticize him on his show “The Draymond Green Show,” on Tuesday.

“You run into the media crying about a foul that, c’mon bro, with your 7-3 rookie,” Green said. “So guess what you just taught your 7-3 rookie? How to be emotional and run to the media talking about a foul. We bigs, we big men. You don’t run to the media talking about the foul, you a big man.” (6:11)

Green went as far as calling the Memphis Grizzlies coach a “softie” and “too emotional.”

Ja Morant showed improvement for the Memphis Grizzlies

Ja Morant missed his seventh straight game of the season as he deals with a hip injury. Against the Sixers, the Memphis Grizzlies star didn’t suit up and was on the sidelines. Before the game, Jenkins addressed the injury that Morant has been nursing for some time.

The head coach stated that Morant’s MRI results were “really good.” The explosive guard has played in eight games this season, averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.1 assists. Jenkins has not given a timeframe for the All-Star’s return to the starting lineup and is still week-to-week.

Taylor Jenkins said Ja Morant’s imaging turned out “really good,” but he’s still week-to-week.

Same with Zach Edey. Jenkins said he’s now week-to-week with the ankle injury.

Jenkins also provided an update on Edey, who had been sidelined for two games in a row because of an ankle issue. The rookie is reportedly listed as week-to-week.
