Tyler Herro came off the bench in his on-court return during the Miami Heat’s 128-97 road victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, and Erik Spoelstra hinted that the one-time All-Star could have the same role in their next few games.
Herro led the Miami Heat in scoring with 24 points, four rebounds, and three assists on 9-for-14 shooting from the field in 23 minutes of action. Instead, Pelle Larsson started in Herro’s place, joining Davion Mitchell, Norman Powell, Bam Adebayo, and Andrew Wiggins in the lineup.
“Right now we’re just trying to get him out there,” Spoelstra said on Herro coming off the bench via the Miami Herald. “We are going to manage the minutes. I’m not overthinking it, I’m not putting anything in cement, I don’t have a timeline for anything.”
“Obviously, it’s been a unique season for him. We know how competitive he is, we know how much he wants to be out there. But those are the things you can’t control. But we have never forgotten about the talent that he brings. He changes our dynamic quite a bit,” he continued.

Miami Heat News: Tyler Herro discusses his return after battling injuries
Tyler Herro missed the Miami Heat’s previous 15 games due to a rib injury, and he even wore an NFL-style flak jacket in his on-court return against the Atlanta Hawks. Despite missing time, he showed zero signs of rust.
“It felt great,” Herro said. “Ultimately, just being out there was what felt amazing. Being out there with my teammates, playing in the game, being able to go through my routine again. It felt good.”
“You love a team that has that much depth,” Bam Adebayo said. “Because now you’ve got different people that can step up at any moment. And throughout the rest of the season and going into the playoffs, you need that.”
