Getting doubleteamed is a hint of how good a player is. That’s what Michael Jordan tried to drive to Anthony Edwards’ head when he talked about the Minnesota Timberwolves star in an episode of the MJ: Insights To Excellence that aired on Tuesday.

He did not say it directly to the Wolves star. He said that said that message to a Minnesota executive.
“I had a conversation this summer with a high executive at Minnesota and he was talking about Anthony Edwards,” he shared.
“I heard during the course of the year that they were double teaming (him). He didn’t know how to deal with the double team. Well, that’s the highest respect that you can ever get if they double team you.”
He then talked about how to deal with such tough covers and he kept it simple.
“Now how do you find a way to break the double team? You move without the ball, get into the post, get in scoring positions so that that the double team cannot act. All those are the types of conversations I try to have when players seek that information.”

Anthony Edwards knows what needs to do
Timberwolves met the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and one man they needed to mark was Edwards and they did.
However, the three-time All-Star always had an answer. Even when the win was already within Pelicans’ hands, Edwards still managed to do his thing. He converted the lay up that sent the game to overtime and then took over in the next five minutes in many ways to give his team the win.

He was asked by Timberwolves reporter Dane Moore post-game about the defenses thrown at him and his response alludes to what Jordan said.
“You’re getting doubled a lot but you’re scoring. How were you finding those alternative ways [to score],
the reporter asked.
“We’re trying to play quicker. Like if I went on a screen, go right away, then it takes me a few [moves] and we’re starting do more, just attack right away and go and get to my spot,” he responded.
The Pelicans were sending two defenders at Anthony Edwards tonight when he crossed halfcourt — often without a screen — and he still scored 44.
