NBA legend Michael Jordan joins his NASCAR racing team amidst the legal battle it’s facing related to antitrust allegations.
Former Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, co-owner of 23XI Racing, attended the opening day of a landmark federal antitrust trial in which 23XI and Front Row Motorsports accuse NASCAR of using its market power to impose unfair charter terms and financing on teams, leaving them with little choice but to accept deals they say depress team revenues.
The case began with jury selection, opening statements from both sides, and the partial testimony of 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin, setting the stage for what plaintiffs’ lead lawyer said will be a two‑week effort to prove a coordinated, anti‑competitive strategy by NASCAR executives.

Plaintiffs’ attorney Jeffrey Kessler told jurors the evidence will include internal emails and texts showing NASCAR executives were aware the charter extension offer was harmful to teams, and he argued the Sanctioning Body used its monopsony power to force a “take it or leave it” deal that left teams worse off financially than they should be in a competitive market.
NASCAR’s opening statement, delivered by attorney John E. Stephenson, countered that the teams only raised antitrust concerns after failing to secure the financial terms they wanted and accused 23XI and Front Row of using litigation as a negotiation tactic.
Former Celtics Star Makes Michael Jordan Prediction on One Current Player
Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce recently drew Paul Pierce on Monday drew a bold comparison between Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, saying the guard is showing a “Jordan presence” and projecting he can regularly score 30 points a night.

In one of the recent episodes of the No Fouls Given podcast, Pierce got honest about his take on OKC’s star and 2024 MVP. Gilgeous-Alexander has been on an exceptional scoring run, combining high efficiency with volume, and currently sits on a 93-game streak of consecutive 20-point outings, the second-longest in NBA history, a level of consistency even Jordan never achieved.
Pierce, who is no stranger to provocative takes, argued that SGA’s steady production separates him from other stars who have occasional big nights, and noted that the Thunder’s recent form has amplified attention on the young guard’s rise.
“You can’t stop him,” Pierce said on the No Fouls Given podcast. “He’s starting to give me that Jordan presence. He’s gonna get 30. We had Kobe, LeBron, KD, and they’ll have big nights, but this dude is consistent 30s.”
Michael Jordan has played for 15 seasons in the league. Gilgeous-Alexander, meanwhile, has played seven so far and is currently on his 8th season.
