Michael Porter Jr.’s brother Jontay became the first active NBA player to get a lifetime ban from the league due to his involvement to sketchy gambling activities. The scandal broke out in March 2024 and he received the verdict on April.

It has been more than a year since this issue rocked the league and now, with a new series of discoveries and investigations on several NBA personalities and their ties to illegal gambling, MPJ is opening up about the time his brother got involved with illegal activities.
The Brooklyn Nets star said he did not know much of the details about his brother’s crime because he and his family were shielded from it because of the scale of the crime.
“He told the extent of his story for the first time to me,” he said in an exclusive interview with The New York Post.
“And that was recently, and those details were kind of relayed to me. But for a long time I was kind of on the outside looking in as well because for a long time he wasn’t trying to involve the family because of the fact that the people that were involved were dangerous people.”

This “danger” that Porter Jr. discussed relates to what is happening today. Portland Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups was arrested over his alleged ties to mafia. He was used as as the face card to lure big time players in a poker game that uses high technology to deceive players.
Michael Porter Jr. and brother has details in a podcast
MPJ has been very active with podcasting lately and his next one might be his most controversial if it gets released. He said he and his controversial brother sat down and discussed the gambling scandal.
Michael Porter Jr. says he recorded a podcast with his brother, Jontay Porter, recently:
“We’re not able to put anything out at this time. But we did sit down to have a three-hour conversation… It was like a therapy session for us because as brothers that was the first time we… pic.twitter.com/Kmg5RoJDv6

There’s still no uncertainty if this podcast will be released given the gravity of the crime and the FBI are still having a wide scale investigation over the NBA’s gambling problem.
Porter Jr. has also been restricted by his team on his podcasting gigs as it attracts criticism from various sectors.
