It’s not yet a full season since De’Aaron Fox was traded away by the Sacramento Kings but the seeds that months before February of 2025.
Fox reportedly became unhappy with the team and the Kings sent him to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team traded that involved Zach Lavine and the Chicago Bulls. What was the root cause of this happiness? It’s the front office decisions.

Kings reporter James Ham revealed that the 2023 All-Star did not really want to leave his former team but several changes happened and it affected their relationship with Brown.
“The reason why we know that De’Aaron Fox wanted Mike Brown and made those statement is because there were other players who didn’t want Mike Brown and wanted him gone. And even that in itself is a huge problem,” the reporter said in his podcast.
“If you have half of your team that want the coach out and you don’t, you now have divide not just between players and coach but players and players. And that’s when I think this splinter started so quickly. Because hey we’re not pulling in the same direction. In fact, we’re pulling in a bunch of different directions.
Ham describe this development as lame.

“Some high school stuff that really hurt this team.”

De’Aaron Fox talks to just one King
This revelation about Fox and Brown somehow checks as the latter just sent his love to his former player as they are set to meet in the NBA Cup finals. Brown is now coaching the New York Knicks while Fox is headlining the Spurs together with Victor Wembanyama.
Another report also confirms this report by Ham as Marc Spears revealed that the Spurs is no longer in speaking terms with most of Kings personnel. The only one he is talking to is Keegan Murray.

“I asked him if he’s keeping up with the Kings at all who’s definitely struggling, said he doesn’t watch their games, but the only guy he’s been talking to is Keegan Murray,” Spears said.
“He certainly wishes him the best.”
He also expressed satisfaction with where he is right now saying “the grass is greener” in Texas.
“I don’t really have anything to say,” Fox said about the Kings. “It is what it is. I wish [Murray] the best. Whether that is rebuilding, I want him to be in the best situation for him.
“The grass is greener on this side.”
