Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers recently called out the Los Angeles Lakers for their poor handling of his assistant coach Darvin Ham during a recent media availability session.

According to the one-time NBA champion coach, it “literally made no sense” when the Los Angeles Lakers relieved Darvin Ham of his head coaching duties, considering what he has done for the franchise for the past two seasons.
“I’m not going to get into the whole thing that happened there, but he took a team to a Western Finals, and then the following year, he won the in-season tournament, which they say we should have a lot of value on, and then they release him,” Rivers said about Ham. “It literally makes no sense, but it happens. It happens to all of us. It’s part of what we do. But Darvin Ham’s a coach, he should be on the sidelines, and I wanted him next to me.”

In his two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Darvin Ham compiled a 90-74 record. He returned to the Milwaukee Bucks, the team he most recently won an NBA championship with, this summer to be their new lead assistant coach.
Milwaukee Bucks plan to re-establish themselves as legitimate title contenders
Doc Rivers and Darvin Ham face the tall task of making the Milwaukee Bucks a perennial contender in the Eastern Conference again, as the team hasn’t made it to the Conference Finals since their championship-winning run in 2020-21.

Last season, they fell short to the sixth-seeded Indiana Pacers in the first round, largely due to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s leg injury.
The Milwaukee Bucks strengthened their lineup this summer with the underrated acquisitions of Taurean Prince, Gary Trent Jr., and Delon Wright. But, above all, the health of their biggest stars will determine their fate this upcoming season.
