“I Just Don’t See Him Going” – Milwaukee Bucks Star Doesn’t Fit In With Heat, According to Mario Chalmers

This summer, many expected the Milwaukee Bucks to trade All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo away. The Bucks’ choice to re-sign Antetokounmpo’s older brother, Thanasis, has given some fans comfort regarding his loyalty, even though the offseason isn’t yet over. Still, trade talks have been thrown around about the future of the Bucks star.

One of the teams linked to the Greek Freak is the Miami Heat. The Heat could be looking for a superstar since they traded All-Star forward Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors last season. It could be a way to keep the young stars (Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro) competitive and happy.

However, former NBA player Mario Chalmers isn’t a big fan of Antetokounmpo potentially joining the team. Chalmers clarified that it isn’t because he doesn’t want the two-time MVP joining his former team. But he believes that the Heat isn’t the right fit for him.

The two-time champion talked about the case of the Milwaukee Bucks star in an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.

“I just don’t see Giannis fitting with, I don’t want to say Heat culture but just the Heat team,” Chalmers said. “You have to put a lot of shooters around him on that team. Which is doable, but I just don’t see him going.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn’t fit Miami Heat because you have to “put a lot of shooters around him” says Mario Chalmers.@mchalmers15 says Giannis would fit better with the Toronto Raptors:

Robinson asked the two-time champion if he thinks the Toronto Raptors are a better fit.

“Yeah, definitely,” he answered. “More active, more up-and-down team, and they got a bunch of young, hungry guys that can run and get up and down, that’s Giannis’ game.”

Making the most of the open floor would fit better with Antetokounmpo’s game. The Heat used to be that kind of team with Chalmers, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. But things are different under head coach Erik Spoelstra now.

The Milwaukee Bucks star claps back at Alperen Sengun

Antetokounmpo led Greece to a bronze medal finish at the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket, and it was something special. Before the Milwaukee Bucks star secured third place, however, they encountered Turkey, led by Houston Rockets star Alperen Sengun. The Turkish team was on a roll in the tournament and finished with the silver medal.

In their bout, Sengun went viral for his comments about the Greek star. Although he complimented the star forward for being an amazing player, he took a shot at his passing skills. According to the Rockets star, Antetokounmpo isn’t an amazing passer.

After winning bronze, the Bucks star clapped back at what was said about him.

“I’m a guy who doesn’t like to talk a lot. You know, I let my game talk. I’m going to my 13th season in the NBA. I’ve won everything. Everything,” Antetokounmpo said. “And this was the thing that I hadn’t won. And I won.”

“You can go see my clips on YouTube. And then come back and ask me if I’m a good passer. There you go. That’s it.”

He may not be a great passer, but the star forward is a willing passer. He has averaged five assists since his NBA career started in 2013.
