Milwaukee Bucks fans ignored previous Shams Charania’s reports about Giannis Antetokounmpo possibly leaving the team saying what he says on social media and on TV are just all speculations. Their apathy was supported many times by his teammates and Giannis himself who declared once that he wants to win another title with the Bucks and be with the team forever.

Some say the Greek Freak being targeted by teams is nothing new. They have been hearing it since he rose to stardom. Others comments that Charania is just spitting opinion, he’s just pathetic, and have no grounds or credible sources.

Something shifted though in the latest one published by the NBA insider. He claimed that Antetokounmpo is considering leaving the franchise and that New York Knicks and the start of conversation sort of initiated by the player himself.

New York emerged as the only team Giannis Antetokounmpo desired outside of Milwaukee in the offseason, sources told ESPN, and the Knicks and Bucks engaged in talks for a window of time.

“This offseason marked the first time that Antetokounmpo truly initiated the pursuit of his best external options, and he had discussions with the Bucks that ultimately led to the conversations between the franchise and the Knicks,” Charanis wrote.

“Fast-forward months now, and he’ll be paying close attention not only to how the Bucks perform to start the season but also to the landscape of the rest of the league.”

Charania added that Antetokounnpo will closely monitor how the Bucks will perform this season and will keep his options open.

The franchise player, who will become a free agent by 2028, previously said that he has confidence in his new look squad and believes that they are sleepers this season.

Milwaukee Bucks fans bracing for the worst

Bucks fans were confident before the start of the season but this time, there’s a level of concern. Some thought the timing of the report is what makes the report impactful.

Tbh I’d never want Giannis to leave but I would’ve preferred things like this during the offseason and not right before the season https://t.co/w3t8LEkdQS

    — GiannisMuse 💫🦌 (@GiannisMuse) October 8, 2025

Just when we nearly got a Bucks season free of so much expectation and pressure this drops and suddenly every game and moment is going to be analyzed in the Giannis leaving lens. Yeesh https://t.co/mFoDKgjtNd

    — Ti Windisch (@TiWindisch) October 7, 2025

it’s obvious giannis won’t be staying in milwaukee his whole career cause there wont be another championship caliber team during his tenure but all this shit feels like a ticking “i told you so” bomb reporters are waiting to pull at bucks fans rather than real journalism

    — tj 🈂️ (@bigdawggtjj) October 7, 2025

I think my biggest thing with the Giannis/Knicks stuff is…why now? He’s clearly not moving right before the season. Not sure it makes sense to start pressuring the Bucks by leaking stuff right now from anyone’s side here.

Just very strange timing on it all.

The worry is fueled by the fact that Antetokounmpo did say during media day that he looked at other teams and that he knows he can get traded someday.

The Giannis thing is a real story because when given the chance to personally deny it at media day Giannis said it’s true he considered his options because he’s tired of losing in the first round. I get people don’t want to hear that but he literally said that. It’s a story.

    — Ti Windisch (@TiWindisch) October 7, 2025

Bucks fans going to just deny and yell at Shams (and me by extension) but it’s very obvious to me that Giannis truly was considering his options and has made it clear this is a year-to-year thing at this point

And it’s taken some of my joy and excitement for sure https://t.co/M3u3jJc1iS

    — sqr (@squaresense) October 7, 2025

While others are starting to accept the possibility that Giannis will leave Wisconsin, some remains adamant there’s not much to it in Sham’s report.

I believe there’s some truth to it but regardless it’s just pointless “reporting”… the Knicks called the Bucks and a deal didn’t even come close to being done. Like alright cool? I would bet that happens every offseason with a lot of teams calling about Giannis
