It was a happy homecoming for Anthony Edwards on Friday night, as the Minnesota Timberwolves star led his team to a 122-111 victory over the Dallas Mavericks a few days after winning his first All-Star Game MVP trophy.
Edwards dropped 40 points, including 14 in the final quarter. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard also had six rebounds and five three-pointers on 16-for-30 shooting from the field. During his locker room interview, Edwards heaped praise on his head coach, Chris Finch.
This is where I started, and they’ve been rocking with me since the beginning man so I love these guys, I love my teammates, it’s like a brotherhood at this point, and the fans to me are like family, so I appreciate the love man, for sure,” Edwards said of winning the All-Star Game MVP trophy via Andrew Dukowitz of Zone Coverage.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Chris Finch is “proud” of Anthony Edwards after winning All-Star Game MVP
Chris Finch couldn’t be happier to see Anthony Edwards win this year’s All-Star Game MVP. According to the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach, this is a sign of things to come for the former first overall pick.
“First of all, we’re really proud of him… I turned on the TV the other day and was a fan and watched a great player do his thing and have fun doing it, so just like everyone else, I wanted to give him a call and let him know we were watching and how proud of him we are,” Finch said of Edwards.
Last weekend, Edwards was named the All-Star Game MVP for the first time in his career after registering 32 points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes across three games for the USA Stars, who won the three-team round-robin against Team World and the USA Stripes.
