The Minnesota Timberwolves had to fight tooth and nail to make it to the Western Conference Finals, but they finally managed to take down the Denver Nuggets in an epic Game 7 where both teams tried their hardest to stop their opponents from scoring.
It was a tough contest that would decide how the Western Conference would look like for the foreseeable future, so it’s understandable why fans are interested in seeing how the series goes. However, what many may not expect is the amount of attention Game 7 would get.
It was pretty clear that the stakes behind this game were high, so eyes were definitely on how the final game between these two juggernauts would play out. What would surprise NBA fans is the number of people who watched it would eclipse one of America’s most beloved sporting events.
Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 7 win vs Denver Nuggets beat Super Bowl LVIII’s live viewers
The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in the United States. Even fans who don’t usually care about football take the time off their day to watch the biggest game of the NFL season.
What makes this year’s contest more special is all of the Hollywood flair surrounding it. Taylor Swift is dating Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, which brought plenty of fresh eyes to a game that not many Americans usually care about.
However, Game 7 between the Wolves and the Nuggets was so captivating that it reportedly beat the number of live viewers SUper Bowl LVIII had:

It’s insane to imagine that this game had more live viewers than the Super Bowl when it’s not even the Finals. However, this just shows how popular the NBA has become over the years.
Now that the defending champions have been dethroned, more eyes will be compelled to watch more NBA basketball as they await who will be the next team to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy next month.
